Transforming a Care Home into a Welcoming Haven

This project involved the comprehensive renovation of a care home's communal spaces. The outdated and mismatched interiors were creating a less-than-ideal environment for residents. The goal was to revitalise these spaces, fostering a more welcoming and nurturing atmosphere.

Challenges and Solutions

Outdated and Mismatched Design: The existing design elements, including furniture, colours, and layout, were addressed by implementing a cohesive aesthetic that promoted a sense of harmony and belonging.

Disused Spaces: Unused areas were repurposed to create functional and inviting spaces, such as a welcoming reception area and a cafe servery.

Lack of Cohesiveness: A unified colour palette, materials, and finishes were selected to create a consistent and inviting atmosphere throughout the communal areas.

Spatial Optimisation: Unnecessary walls were removed to create a more open and accessible space, particularly in the atrium and hallway areas.

Biophilic Design: Natural elements, such as plants and greenery, were incorporated to enhance the well-being of residents.

Functional Layout: A functional and user-friendly layout was designed, including a welcoming reception area, cafe servery, and comfortable seating areas.
